Yesterday's Wisdom Interpreted by Tomorrow's Talent at the

Art Exhibition highlights award winning works of art by siblings Phillip Liao, Jr. and Alberta Liao. Both published, their work was featured at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Enjoy complimentary wine while browsing their masterpieces!

For the first time two published, local Bay Area artists are showcasing their surreal images coupled with wild caricatures at the Foster City Art Gallery with a special reception on March 19th from 2:00 - 4:00 pm to meet the artists. Both artists believe that the use of their images speaks to the soul of their community and enables them to bring the wisdom and knowledge of the Chinese art forms to contemporize their interpretation. With this special exhibition, Philip Jr. and Alberta show why they are visionary artists who believe that their style of art can be used to better understand emotions and enrich communities.

Both artists were born with an inherent artistic ability and started drawing in elementary school. It didn't take long after that before Philip Jr. and Alberta were winning artistic acclaim, including having their works displayed at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and awards for their creativity and vision within their art mediums. Spanning from sublime photography and single stroke water colors to scary and comical caricatures, their work is a combination of East meets West with a twist.

Alberta's artistic interpretations are as fluid as the paint she manipulates. She works to carefully lay the colors on rice paper to give her pieces a simple, yet elegant, style that still emanates that traditional Asian feel. Her interpretation of nine shrimp in different colors and shapes exploded on the art scene when she was just seven years old. She won first place at the Association of Northern California Chinese Schools art competition, one of more than 200 art students. She has evolved into photography and will be featuring her Curious Peeper, a curious rabbit who peers out at the bright sun from his dark home. This piece is in honor of the 2011 Lunar New Year being the "Year of the Rabbit."

Phillip Jr. has captivated friends and family for years communicating with them through his fanciful cartoon caricatures and videogame related art. He also paints traditional Chinese works in more of an architectural style, depicting mountains, temples and towns. His photography brings him to another level of serenity, capturing natural scenes that evoke peace and tranquility.
