World's First Titanium Personal Water Filter Launched on Kickstarter
A small group of inventors and engineers in Australia have developed the world's first and only personal water filter made of Titanium. The company, called Go Walkabout, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring the new filter into production.
Adelaide, Australia, October 20, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The Walkabout Ti line is the only line of personal water filters that uses a patented new Titanium filter membrane to purify drinking water. Other personal water filters use weaker, less durable plastic or ceramic to do the filtration. Because of this new technology, the filters provide longer life and easier handling than other personal water filters on the market.
According to Go Walkabout Engineering Manager Matt Munoz, "We have made and tested filters using a number of different metals. We decided to use Titanium for the Walkabout line of personal water filters because it is the most hypoallergenic material known, it has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal, and it won’t add any flavors, like you get with many other materials. And because Titanium is pretty cool."
The company has developed a patented process for membrane manufacturing. They now make the high-quality Titanium filter material thinner and at a much lower price than any other metallic filter of its kind in the world, This allows them to bring what is otherwise a high-end filtration technology to the consumer market.
The Walkabout Ti filters are initially being introduced in two sizes: a two-stage Ultralight filter, designed for a single person, and a three stage family-sized filter, which includes a carbon filtration stage to remove heavy metals, chlorine and odors. The filters are aimed at a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts, such as hikers, campers, 4WD and other adventurers.
Go Walkabout is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to help launch the new Titanium filters. More details about the filters, the creators and the campaign can be found on their Kickstarter Page and at WeGoWalkabout.com.
