Volunteers Ask, "Do You Know Everything You Should About Drugs?"
Reaching club goers with the truth about club drugs
Rimini, Italy, August 18, 2016 (Newswire.com) - The Foundation for a Drug-Free World chapter in the Italian province of Emilia Romagna reaches out to clubgoers in the city of Rimini with information they urgently need to know.
A region rich in history, culture and art, Emilia Romagna is also famous for its beach resorts, cuisine and clubs.
Alcohol, ecstasy and cocaine are the drugs of choice but few know their real effects.
Cocaine is one of the most dangerous drugs known to man. Once a person begins taking the drug, it has proven almost impossible to become free of its grip physically and mentally.
As to Ecstasy or MDMA, the vast majority of users are teenagers and young adults. Mixed with alcohol, it is extremely dangerous and can, in fact, be deadly.
The volunteers provide clubbers with The Truth About Drugs booklets on these commonly abused drugs.
“Every day, alarming headlines fill the news about drug casualties. But it doesn't deter drug use. It only generates confusion,” says one of the volunteers. “A lot of information you hear on the street comes from people who are selling the drugs. Former addicts will tell you drug dealers will say anything to get someone to try the drugs they are pushing. They know that all they have to do is get a person started, and they will just keep coming back for more.”
What motivates the volunteers is that most of them have had young people come back to them later to tell them they read the booklets and stopped taking drugs or decided not to take them in the first place.
The Church of Scientology and Scientologists support the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, one of the world’s largest nongovernmental drug education and prevention campaigns.
It has been conclusively proven that when young people are provided with the truth about drugs—factual information on what drugs are and what they do—usage rates drop commensurately.
