Online, April 26, 2010 (Newswire.com) - April 26, 2010 - Adam Weitsman, President of Upstate Shredding LLC of Owego, NY has announced the company has begin an $8 million program to totally renovate the Solvay operation, now known as Ben Weitsman of Syracuse, to bring it up to the state-of-the-art standards at other Company locations.
When Upstate Shredding LLC acquired the assets of the scrap metal business of the Matlow Company in Solvay, New York last December in an all cash deal, Adam Weistman projected sales to grow modestly at first. Surprisingly, under new management sales skyrocketed during the first two months of the year--1,500 percent higher than initial projections.
According to Adam Weitsman, the rapid two-month sales increase was attributed to several factors: large concentration on superior customer service, paying the highest prices for all types of scrap metal, faster unloading of customer deliveries, longer hours of operation making it more convenient for customers, and paying customers for their metals on the same day they make deliveries.

We are not only creating new, good jobs, but when we complete the $8 million dollar upgrade it will be transformed from an old fashioned, unsightly, muddy scrap yard into a modern industrial facility that the area can be proud of, " said Adam Weitsman, president of the Company.
The $8 million dollar upgrade to Ben Weitsman of Syracuse will include paving the entire facility and installing storm water runoff control. Existing buildings will be completely renovated and new structures built. Landscaping and noise mitigation fencing is included the re-development plan. New equipment will include trucks, truck scales, three Sennebogen cranes, two mobile shears, loaders, bailers, high speed conveyors, shipping container loading systems and roll-off containers.
The impressive growth to date has already led to the company hiring ten new employees to augment the staff that stayed on the payroll after the acquisition. New hires included crane and other heavy equipment operators, truck divers and yard workers. "As we continue to grow, we'll hire more," Weitsman predicted. Initial new equipment upgrades have been able to handle the increased volumes of scrap metals.

It is the largest privately held scrap metal company on the east coast.
