Tri City WELS Basketball All Star Celebrity Game

​On Sunday, March 20, 2016, the Tri-City WELS Men’s Basketball League is hosting its third-annual All-Star Celebrity Game. Featuring athletes and personalities known both locally and nationally, the All-Star Game well be held at Michigan Lutheran Seminary, 2777 Hardin St. in Saginaw at 5p.m. with doors opening at 4p.m.

The yearly event is put on to raise money for charity. This year’s recipient is the Chad Tough Foundation, The mission of The ChadTough Foundation is to fund research and raise awareness for Pediatric Brain Tumors with an emphasis on Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). Chad Carr was a precious, beautiful, fun-loving boy who on September 23rd, 2014 was diagnosed with DIPG. Chad’s grandfather is former University of Michigan coach, Lloyd Carr. Chad lost his battle to DIPG on November 23, 2015.   

Celebrity’s scheduled to appear include athletes: Stuart Schweigert (football player Saginaw Heritage, Purdue and NFL’s Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions), Jenny Ryan (Saginaw Nouvel and University of Michigan basketball), Jeremiah McLauren (football, Saginaw High, Michigan State University), Clifton Ryan (Saginaw Arthur Hill, MSU, St. Louis Rams football), Tory Jackson (basketball, Saginaw Buena Vista, Notre Dame), Eugene Seals (basketball, Saginaw High, Miami of Ohio), Blair White (Saginaw Nouvel, MSU, Indianapolis Colts football), Jermaine Jackson (Detroit Mercy, Toronto Raptors basketball) Anthony Dirrell (professional boxer) Annett Babers (Saginaw High and MSU basketball) DeeAndre Hulett (Saginaw Arthur Hill and pro basketball) and former and current Michigan Lutheran Seminary basketball stars, Todd Brassow and Andrew Schroeder.

Also scheduled to play are: Bill Simonson (host of “The Huge Show”), Rick Glaza (Great Lakes Sports Network) Karl Schmugge (Michigan Lutheran Seminary football coach), Matthew Felan (President and CEO of the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance) and WNEM TV5 personalities Meg McLeod and Andrew Keller.

Doors open at 4 p.m., admission is $8 for adults and $7 for students. Discount tickets are available online by visiting tricitycelebritygame.com. Concessions will be available as well as a limited amount of Chad Tough shirts and several items will be raffled off throughout the evening. There will be a silent auction for signed jerseys of Golden State Warrior stars, Draymond Green and Steph Curry. Halftime entertainment will be provided by the Trinity Lutheran poms squad. Following the Celebrity Game, the WELS all-stars will take the court in their annual all-star showdown.
