'The Ninth Passage,' the Latest Release From Dale O. Cloninger, Follows a High School Choir Teacher Who Gets Into a Relationship With One of His Students

Dale O. Cloninger's 'The Ninth Passage' is the fictitious story of Alec Driver, a WWII veteran turned choir teacher, who begins a romantic relationship with a student and how it tears the community apart.

Dale O. Cloninger is a professor emeritus at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, having held several positions with the University including Dean of the School of Business. A Texas resident, he’s authored dozens of scholarly papers and two books, with “The Ninth Passage being his third.

“The Ninth Passage,” while inspired by real events, is a work of fiction that follows Alec Driver and the relationship he begins with his student Tracy Ashbury. It’s soon discovered and people in their small community begin taking sides. An incident with another student almost leads to Alec’s firing, but he keeps his position and eventually goes on to marry Tracy. While controversies seem to have worked out, there are issues going on between the two that aren’t quite in the public eye.

Readers who wish to see how Alec and Tracy’s story ends can purchase “The Ninth Passage” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iBooks Store, Amazon, or Barnes and Noble.
