St. Barth's largest resort, The Hotel Guanahani, is planning to close temporarily this fall while it undergoes a series of major renovations. The hotel, long a favorite destination of Ultimate Jet Vacations' luxury travel clients, will close its doors from August 29th to December 15th. The decision comes in keeping with the resort's desire to consistently provide their upscale clientele with one of the best luxury destinations in the Caribbean, along with their trademark service.

A resort destination for discriminating travelers for 24 years, the Hotel Guanahani & Spa offers an elegant, luxuriant respite in the heart of the Caribbean. Elegant accommodations and gourmet cuisine delivered with uncompromising service are the hallmarks of this picturesque destination. The resort features 68 unique bungalows, 33 rooms and 35 suites (fourteen with their own private pool) set on two picturesque beaches. Guest accommodations are lavishly appointed, and a multitude of activities and spa treatments await you.

The Hotel Guanahani built its reputation through remaining open year-round, with new renovations happening during the low season. However, this year the hotel will begin a larger-scale project at the hands of architect David Schwarz, interior designer Luis Pons and architect Nicolas Lossent from Lotus Architectes, a local firm. The hotel currently plans to add a new luxury suite to the property, as well as embellishing most of the other rooms.

The Hotel Guanahani's current six Butler Suites will be augmented by the addition of two new suites: The Admiral Suite and the Serenity Suite, which will be designed to provide the most luxurious comforts available, as well as such amenities as private pools and terraces that open out onto the sea. Each suite features a full-time butler on hand to service your every need, be it unpacking your suitcase on the first night, ironing clothes, or even drawing a hot bath complete with essential spa oils and fresh flowers.

The new Admiral Suite, named for Christopher Columbus' honorary title granted by the King of Spain, will be located in a remote setting on the beachfront with stunning views of the nearby lagoon. The suite will feature two roomy bedrooms decorated exquisitely with custom-designed leather-and-wood furniture, as well as exclusive access to a private beach with stunning views of the lagoon. In keeping with the nautical theme, this suite's decor will will also feature such navigation tools as a spy glass and sextant.

Another modification will include the renovation of the Hotel Gunahani's premiere hilltop ocean-view suite into the Serenity Suite, a luxuriant 2-bedroom butler unit. Each bedroom in the Serenity Suite will include a unique bathroom complete with a Turkish bath and Jacuzzi. With panoramic views of the cerulean waters, this suite will be a haven from the outside, decorated around the concept of unity between water and serenity. The entranceway will feature a unique waterfall and olive tree, and other suite amenities will include an intimate pool, private entrances, lush gardens surrounding the unit and an electric car available for your exclusively use.

The Wellness Suite features 180-degree ocean and island views, as well as exlusive after-hours access to the hotel's full-service spa. Another choice for guests looking to rejuvenate is the Marigot Suite, wherein guests are offered four spa treatments daily. For the ultimate in serenity and relaxation, you may opt to receive your treatments in the private treatment room located next to the suite's garden. If your vacation experience wouldn't be complete without a beach, the Hotel Guanahani offers its deluxe two-bedroom Beach House suite, situated directly on the pristine, white-sanded beach with a private garden terrace and outdoor Jacuzzi.

Other spacious and elegant suites include the Pelican Suite, a two-bedroom accommodation that features an elegant private garden setting with ocean views and an outdoor Jacuzzi, and two three-bedroom units: The Garden House, and La Villa. The Garden House offers intimate peace and privacy intimacy within the confines of a lush garden setting, while La Villa boasts a large, secluded outdoor terrace and large swimming pool. La Villa is ideal for anyone who wants to spend their vacation outside in a luxuriant Caribbean setting without ever needing to leave the premises.

Other refurbishments to continue throughout of the resort will include renovations to many guest bathrooms; some of which will be remodeled to open onto private outdoor gardens and provide harmony with the surrounding natural environment. In addition, more than 20 units will have terraces and outside decks revamped and enlarged, providing additional comfort in addition to the breathtaking views afforded of the surrounding environment. New comfortable, elegant outdoor furniture will be added throughout, featuring marquise-style armchairs and lounge chairs with
plush pillows and stylish coffee tables.

Interiors of many of the hotel's existing suites will receive a new coat of paint, with soft decorative colors including white, offwhite, pearl, sand and light grey tones. Interiors will also feature accents of rare wood elements and soft cotton fabrics, with touches of Yardley English lavender, Acqua di Parma yellow, Hermes-inspired orange, and Tiffany blue. The Guanahani's original Creole spirit and architecture will remain, but overall the property will reveal a newer, more natural and subtle style.

Renovations on the resort will not be limited to guest quarters, however. Other improvements will include a new fitness room, which will be re-located to a spot across from the beachfront and overlooking the lagoon. The fitness room's previous location will become the new home of the boutique, next door to which will be the new location of the renovated kindergarten facility. The resort is planning future phases of renovation over the coming years in an effort to continually provide guests the ultimate in comfort and luxury, and further details will be revealed in the future.
