TERI University will begin the admission process for its two MBA programmes on 18th November 2013, when the application forms will be released. The forms for these MBA programmes in Infrastructure and Business Sustainability will also be available online for the benefit of aspirants.
The MBA in Business Sustainability focuses on management skills and helps students get a perspective on sustainable and ethical practices. The programme is aimed at fresh graduates and mid-career professionals alike. This is also true of the MBA Infrastructure programme, which offers specialised training to students in concepts and skills involved in infrastructure service delivery, regulatory process, and competition policy.
Aspirants with a Bachelors degree, 50% marks or equivalent CGPA, and English at 10+2 level are eligible to apply for these programmes. Aspirants awaiting final results are welcome to apply. A valid CAT/MAT/GMAT/CMAT score is essential. "Given the rigorous course structure, it's ideal that students are proficient in mathematical and analytical skills besides being inclined towards environment and sustainability, and the infrastructure sector for the respective programmes," says Prof. Manipadma Dutta, Head of the Department (HOD), Department of Business Sustainability, TERI University.
In addition to all the information and application forms that are available online, the University also plans to organise an open house for aspirants in March 2014. It will give them an opportunity to interact with the faculty of the relevant departments and get their queries answered.
The last date for receipt of applications is 25th April 2014. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their CAT/GMAT/MAT/CAT scores. Shortlisted candidates will then be assessed on group discussions and interviews, to be conducted by the University in New Delhi.
Alumnus Deepak Sharma, who went through the admission process to get through the MBA Infrastructure programme a couple of years ago, believes it was the best decision he could have taken for himself. Now a research scholar with IIT Mumbai, he remembers his time at TERI University fondly and talks about its solid contribution to his career. To future aspirants he says, "Urban Infrastructure is an upcoming field and graduates can take advantage of opportunities in this sector. TERI University prepares you for the industry through its classroom techniques and sessions that are truly unique."
In fact, a holistic approach to learning has been a hallmark of the University and its emphasis on critical thinking is rather well known. The University also aims to offer broad interdisciplinary exposure in various areas that are relevant to the study of sustainable development. According to Prof. Dutta, "Sustainable Business and Infrastructure are the emerging paradigms of business and business education. We are looking for aspirants with a passion for a career in sustainability and infrastructure," he adds.
TERI University has always looked beyond conventional teaching and has attracted students from various backgrounds in the past. From economics to geography, engineering to social sciences, physical sciences and life sciences, students from different backgrounds have traditionally added interesting perspectives to the dynamic learning environment at the University. Things will be as exciting when the admission process for next year's MBA programmes begins.
