Supernatural Short 'Agorable' Launches Online
Los Angeles, CA, July 11, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Actress and director Bethany Orr will be releasing her short film Agorable for online viewing starting Monday, July 14 at agorablemovie.com. The movie is a billed as a “suicide comedy” and was inspired by Orr’s personal struggle with anxiety and depression following a 2007 accident. Agorable has screened at festivals internationally and gotten the attention of Academy Award nominee Werner Herzog.
Herzog took note of the filmmaker back in 2012, when he selected her as one of the few participants of his Rogue Film School based on the strength of the performances in Agorable: “[Orr is] a real actor’s director.” San Francisco-based film and video director Trevor Kwong says of Agorable, “[Orr has] successfully mapped part of the human condition in a new way with this film.”

Agorable tells the story of a reclusive young woman who is forced into supernatural eviction when her building becomes a crime scene. Film reviewer Camilla Stein called it "a frank and deliberately laconic short with with [a] clean cut and engaging story line... stunning and masterfully fulfilled." The film features notable performances by Orr, Holly Kaplan (Parenthood, The Mentalist), and Timothy Brennen (Mad Men).
The movie was produced by Orr’s company SyQi Entertainment in association with Emily Schoener and Shaun O’Banion. SyQi has housed other short-form projects by the director, including the Winner of 2012’s First Annual Collaboration Filmmakers Challenge in Hollywood. Development has begun on her feature-length directorial debut which will be filmed in Reykjavik, Iceland. Orr also stars in the upcoming Patrick Kennelly vehicle Excess Flesh, currently in post production.
