Online, September 13, 2010 (Newswire.com) - United Kingdom - UK visa holders will need to keep a tap on the point-based system which is keen to changes this coming year.
A new point-based system was introduced for UK visa in April last year. With this system employers in UK can legally employ migrant workers.
According to the point-based system, while employing a migrant, the employer I s required to sponsor the migrant's stay in UK (unless they are coming here for six months or less in certain circumstances).
Sponsorship needs to be preceded by acquiring a license first. Before applying for a license, the employer should check whether they are eligible to apply for a license, and make sure that they have the right human resource (HR) systems in place to comply with the sponsorship duties.
Former Borders and Immigration Minister Phil Woolas said in context with the point-based system that, "It will ensure that businesses can recruit the skilled foreign workers that the economy needs to fill the gaps."
UK Border Agency also proposes from the end of 2010 that (HSMP) highly skilled immigrants and temporary workers should be required to apply for an identity card when they apply to extend their stay under Tier 1 or Tier 5 of the UK points-based system. By April 2011 all immigrants applying to extend their UK visas for more than six months will be required to apply for an identity card.
