SWIHA announces their new, online/on-campus "Professional Massage Practitioner - Online" Program, providing a mix of online education and necessary hands-on experience. This can be found at www.online.swiha.edu.
Online, February 14, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Southwest Institute of Healing Arts' innovative delivery method for their "Professional Massage Practitioner - Hybrid" diploma is raising eyebrows, as it blends flexible online massage training with required hands-on experience. Students will complete 250 hours of training at SWIHA's main campus in Tempe, Arizona, which includes all essential hands-on core classes, some of the sciences, and the majority of required student clinic hours. The remaining 500 hours of instruction takes place on the Internet, through fully facilitated, instructor-led courses within their distance learning platform.
This hybrid, online massage program can be completed in either 14 months or 20 months, full-time or part-time. The first start date will be April 20, 2012, with a new program beginning every eight weeks. On-campus classes are held in convenient blocks which students can arrange with their admission advisor. Since SWIHA is a nationally-accredited private college (ACCET) approved by the U.S. Department of Education, students enrolled in programs of 600 hours or more may qualify for Federal Student Aid in the form of Pell grants and student loans. In addition, they offer a 10% cash concession on tuition for programs paid in full at the time of enrollment.
The demand for highly qualified massage therapists grows as more people are seeking to improve their health and knowledge about the benefits of massage therapy. Per their website, this program is intended for the person who has a "genuine desire to provide compassionate, unconditional touch while enhancing the lives and health of yourself and others." Together, the art and science of massage therapy are the educational foundation of this diploma. This program is designed to "develop exceptional massage therapists, and offers you the opportunity to specialize in areas of interest."
Brad Boute, the Executive Director of Online Education says, "This on-campus and online massage program represents the perfect balance of required, evaluated hands on work done under the supervision of a licensed instructor. It offers the flexibility of scheduling massage education around your job, and assignment due dates are sensible, which people need nowadays, without losing the integrity of what SWIHA stands for, the transformational ability of reaching your goal, to become a massage therapist."
SWIHA is an established private college and community-healing center for Holistic Healthcare careers and continuing education. SWIHA Online is their virtual education outlet which began in 1992. Online classes are built around the concept of community and "serve as an extension of the spirit found on-campus." Through a combination of course designs based on learning communities, their online learning community seems to emphasize connection, spirit, service and transformation.
Online SWIHA Students participate in their learning community from wherever a reliable Internet connection can be found, and then access course materials, discussions, learning communities, and faculty members. They access the system through a desktop or laptop computer, and in many cases, through a web-enabled mobile phone.
