Social Madness Final : Toms Falls To Hard Rock

Toms Shoes' run of dominance in the Social Madness competition presented by Capital One Spark Business came to an end Tuesday, falling to Hard Rock International in the medium-size business bracket.

Toms Shoes is a for-profit company based in Santa Monica, California, that also operates a non-profit subsidiary, Friends of Toms. The company was founded in 2006 by Blake Mycosike, an entrepreneur from Arlington, Texas. The company design and sells shoes based on the Argentine alpargata design. When Toms sells a pair of shoes, Friends of Toms donates a pair to a person in need.

As a young company,Toms has achieved huge success because of its outstanding marketing concept.Toms donates a new pair of Toms shoes to children who in need for every pair bought by the buying public.Toms' owner founded this company in 2006 after he saw many poor children without one footwear .Except for hurts,infections and diseases,children even could not go to school as schools did not admit students if they do not have any shoes to wear.

Toms currently works with a factory in Ethiopia to provide shoes locally in the surrounding areas. The company has also expanded its merchandise list to include clothing and different types of shoes including Stitchouts, Wrap Boots, Botas, Cordones, and the Wedge, which debuted June 2010.

Toms was one of six Los Angeles-area companies to move to the national phase of the competition, having dominated the local bracket for medium-sized companies.

The company made an impressive run, but fell short in the end.

With the win, a donation of $10,000 will be made Hard Rock's charity of choice - Kids Beating Cancer.
