Rosendin Electric Wins 2018 Project Excellence Award From National Electrical Contractors Association
SAN JOSE, Calif., September 6, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Rosendin Electric, an employee-owned company and one of the largest electrical contractors in the U.S., was recently recognized by the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) with a 2018 NECA Project Excellence Award in Design-Build Over $1 Million for the Wilshire Grand Tower project in Los Angeles, CA.
NECA established the Project Excellence Award in 2017 to showcase the exceptional work being performed by its members throughout the country. Rosendin will be recognized, along with this year’s other winners, during NECA’s annual convention in Philadelphia Sept. 29 – Oct. 2.
A project of this breadth and scope is obviously not without its challenges but, at the end of the day, the Wilshire Grand Project establishes the criteria by which all future developments in Downtown Los Angeles will be evaluated.
Bob Green, Project Executive (Rosendin)
“A project of this breadth and scope is obviously not without its challenges,” said Bob Green, Project Executive at Rosendin. “But, at the end of the day, the Wilshire Grand Project establishes the criteria by which all future developments in Downtown Los Angeles will be evaluated.”
Standing at 1,100 feet, 73-stories, and over two million total square feet, the Wilshire Grand Tower is deemed the “Tallest structure west of the Mississippi” and includes:
- Subterranean parking (5 levels)
- Porte Cochère with 20-foot mural
- Innovative outdoor space including pool deck/garden deck
- Ballroom/meeting room/pre-function space (7 levels)
- 45,100 square feet of new restaurant and retail space
- 365,141 rentable square feet of Class ‘A’ office space (16 levels)
- 900 state-of-the-art hotel rooms (35 levels)
- 70th floor Sky Lobby
- 217 foot spire at the top of the building
Over 4.5 years from the start of pre-construction through building completion, Rosendin performed all engineering and design for the electrical systems and Telecom-IT systems, Public Safety DAS (Distributed Antenna System), Lightning Protection Systems, and all Audio/Visual systems on this design-build project. In total, over 340,000 labor hours from IBEW Local 11 were expended to complete the project. Approximately 620,000 feet of branch conduit, 2.9 million feet of branch wire, 132,000 feet of feeder conduit, 31,000 feet of feeder wire, 7,000 feet of MV cable, 900,000 feet of MC cable, 130,000 feet of fiber optic cable, and 800,000 feet of CAT 6 cable were installed.
In May 2018, NECA’s Los Angeles Chapter awarded Rosendin the Prestige Gold Award for Electrical, and the Audiovisual/Public Address over $500K for the Wilshire Grand project.
