RocknBauble (Hand-Crafted Awareness Jewelry) will donate 10% of their Red Ribbon Awareness Jewelry proceeds to AIDS/HIV awareness organizations during December.
About World Aids Day:
World AIDS Day was started on Dec. 1, 1988. World AIDS Day is about raising research money, increasing awareness of the disease, fighting prejudice and improving education. The World AIDS Day theme for 2009 was "Universal Access and Human Rights." This day is important in reminding people that HIV still exists and that there is much yet to be done as it is estimated that 33.4 million people are living with HIV, including 2.1 million children.
During 2008, 2.7 million people became newly infected with the virus and an estimated 2 million people died from AIDS with half of all people who become infected with HIV do so before they are 25 and are killed by AIDS before they are 35. The majority of people with HIV and AIDS live in lower and middle-income countries, however, HIV today is a threat to men, women and children on all continents around the world. Some may think there is a cure for AIDS - there is still no cure for AIDS.
