The man, and his demeanor, prompted me to accept the lunch offer, but there were a lot of questions going through my mind. First, do I really want to make a change again? Second, why is the college seeking a new president, what are the challenges? At that point I didn’t have the name of the institutions, so it wasn’t possible to do a little advance research. Life was good right now with National Merit. Anything beyond my current position would have to be exceptional. Although, at the back of my mind was the recurring dream of one day becoming a college president. Maybe this would be that opportunity, and maybe not. Waiting has always been difficult for me and this week was not an exception.
