Rare Original Star Wars R2-D2 Blueprint Up for Auction Through November 14th at www.GoldinAuctions.com

WEST BERLIN, NJ, November 3, 2015 (Newswire.com) - The blueprint for the original Star Wars R2-D2 droid is currently being auctioned in the 2015 Goldin Auctions October Legends & Americana Auction through November 14th at www.GoldinAuctions.com.  The blueprint, one of the rarest and most unique Star Wars item to ever appear at auction, is among 1,500 items, including several Star Wars movie collectibles in the auction.

Labeled “ARTOO” the blueprint features five different profiles of the famous droid’s domed head and closely resembles the finished robot R2-D2, seen in the original Star Wars film.  The sketch, dated Jan., 8, 1976, is a detailed production drawing measuring 59-inches by 32-inches.  This exclusive drawing was used by John Stears, the special-effects mastermind behind the original Star Wars movie.  The blueprint includes printed details that read: “REVOLVING HEAD OF ARTOO – EXPERIMENTAL PROTOTYPE ONLY ALL PANELS.  Additional hand-written notations outline interesting elements and specifications such as section names and measurements.  The blueprint is contained in a cardboard tube bearing the typeset label “Star Wars John Stears Blueprint; R2D2.  It originates from the personal estate of John Stears.
