Radisphere Implements On-Site Radiology Bridge (ORB)

The On-Site Radiology Bridge (ORB™) links the on-site staff radiologists to Radisphere's custom engineered radiology workflow system, radii, the same system that is utilized by all remote RadisphereSM radiologists.

CLEVELAND, OH - Radisphere National Radiology Group, a leading, national full-service radiology interpretations provider, has implemented software technology utilized by their on-site staff radiologists at a hospital client site. The On-Site Radiology Bridge (ORB™) links the on-site staff radiologists to Radisphere's custom engineered radiology workflow system, radii, the same system that is utilized by all remote RadisphereSM radiologists.
The deployment of ORB has provided significant benefits to Radisphere's hospital clients including decreased turnaround times. "We've seen a decrease in turnaround times due to the implementation of ORB," said David Harrison, Imaging Services Manager at Wooster Community Hospital, Wooster, Ohio, a Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospital three years in a row. "With our on-site radiologist working within the same system, it provides seamless delivery of quality reports in a shorter period of time and has allowed us to completely eliminate all costs for transcription in radiology."

Another major benefit of ORB is the use of Radisphere's critical findings result management solution for studies that are read on-site during the daytime. "Providing notification of critical results during the day is a significant improvement for our emergency department," stated Dr. Gabriele Pedicelli, Radiologist at Wooster Community Hospital. "It doesn't matter if a patient is in our ER at midnight or at noon in the middle of the day, if there is a critical finding, I will immediately be connected with the referring physician so the critical results can be verbally communicated and I can assure thorough care for their patients."

In addition to clients crossing off the hefty costs of on-site transcription fees from their budget, Radisphere also obviates the need for other separate software systems. "Since the on-site radiologists are utilizing our system from beginning to end, there is no longer a need for the hospital to invest in third party applications for peer review or critical results modules that represent not only a cost savings but also less applications the hospital IT department has to support," said Clay Larsen, Senior Vice President of Client and Network Development at Radisphere. "There are a host of referring physician benefits to this technology including our advanced Lexicon that gives consistent and definitive reports no matter which of our privileged radiologists has read the study. We continue to develop and implement tools, like ORB, to support our client needs that provide the multiple benefits of improved patient care, increased medical staff satisfaction and cost reductions, all at the same time," added Larsen.
