According to the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), in 2010, Japan ranked as the fourth largest export market for Georgia. Nearly two months after the record-breaking earthquake and tsunami, Japan continues to exhibit its undeniable resiliency. The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Takeaki Matsumoto, affirms, "Japan is open for business." He adds, "Japan will not simply rebuild what used to be, but aim for an innovative reconstruction that focuses on the future by fully mobilizing its signature strength: a society with high levels of technology, safety and security."

There's been an outpouring of humanitarian support since the natural disasters. The American Red Cross is among the nonprofit organizations accepting donations for the relief efforts in the Pacific. Kaydon Corporation (KDN), Purafil's parent company, established a partnership with the American Red Cross to provide a 100% match for each employee's contributions through June 1. Kaydon Corp.'s contribution, to date, totals more than $13,400.
