PSD to Joomla - Joomla 2.5.5 Updates Its Security With Additional Features

The new 2.5.5 version of the open source CMS, Joomla released recently is primarily a security update for the CMS and includes a number of added features.

Joomla, the popularly used open source Content Management System by developers around the world to convert files from PSD to Joomla after a PSD to HTML conversion, has now released its new version 2.5.5, which is basically a security update package containing 11 new added features, 2 security fixing issues, and 113 tracker fixing issues. According to the reports, the version has been aimed to provide customary and everyday security updates to the Joomla community. It is a package with numerous modifications to the site administrator's interface and user managing functions.

Among the new features, one of the aspects, "The Ability to Copy a Template" will enable the users to create copies of given templates and then modify them by giving it a new name, while the plug in, "Implementation of Terms and Services" will be exhibited by default in the user's profile so that the site administrators can display the terms and conditions of the site related to their services automatically while signing off from the site.

Another important feature of the version is "The ability to limit the number of password resets within a time period" that allows the site administrators to limit the numbers as how many times a user can reset his/ her password within a pre-determined interval of time, and it will enable the users to check the availability of the username that he/she wishes to use during log in. The other features include, "Counter to redirect component" that lets the site administrators to visit the counter to check as how many times a user has visited the redirected pages or an old URL; "the show preview" feature that makes image handling process an easier one with the capability to upload several files at a single time with image previews on media form fields.

Apart from the above features, it also fixes two security issues, one of medium high priority and the other of low priority. The first one is called, Privilege escalation that enables low privileged users to get administrator's access to a Joomla driven site, while, Information Disclosure, the low priority security issue discloses inside information about the database, internal paths PHP info, etc.
