ARLINGTON, VA - PINK JAMS!, a Washington, D.C. area project combining live music events, arts and fashion with the promotion of breast cancer awareness, announces a breast cancer benefit concert featuring The Justin Trawick Group and Memphis 59 on November 18th, 2009. Both bands, all D.C. based musicians, will perform live to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

The benefit show, "PINK JAMS! at the Ballroom," is hoping to attract hundreds of men and women to show support for the cause. Advance tickets are available now on the website (www.PinkJamsDC.com) and will be available at the door. The concert is open to the community and is made possible through ticket sales, sponsorships, and cash donations. All net proceeds from the November PINK JAMS! event will go to support the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Christa Floresca, the project's founder is participating in the 2010 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer - traveling 40 miles on foot in 2 days - out of a passion born of personal experience.

Called "our own John Mayer" by the Washington Post, the Justin Trawick Group performs a variety of music, ranging in styles sound ranging from folk to bluegrass, and even acoustic funk-infused hip-hop. Trawick got involved with the project after his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. Opening the concert is Memphis 59, whose style of rock music takes its influence from Tom Petty and the Counting Crows.

Miss DC 2008, Kate Marie Grinold will serve as the evening's Emcee, and the Washington Redskin Cheerleaders will be making a special appearance to show their support for the cause.
"In my early 30s, I lost a friend, my age, to this devastating disease," said Floresca. "Young men and women need the same breast cancer detection knowledge as they do over the age of 40. Breast cancer doesn't discriminate, and it isn't a sexist disease. An estimated three million woman are living with breast cancer, one million don't know it yet. This year, nearly 2,000 men will also be diagnosed. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against breast cancer."

"Our goal is to raise over $10,000 for the Avon Walk by May 1, 2010. It's a pleasure to honor the memory of my courageous friend, and partner with Justin and the guys from Memphis 59 to raise money for a great cause - one that hits home for all of us."

"PINK JAMS! at the Ballroom" is sponsored my Sirius XM, MIX 107.3, OnTap Magazine and others.
