Ovarian Cancer Alliance of San Diego to Hold 3rd Annual Walk to Raise Awareness for Ovarian Cancer
SAN DIEGO, September 5, 2018 (Newswire.com) - The Ovarian Cancer Alliance of San Diego, with In Motion Events, is excited to announce the 3rd Annual Teal Steps Walk to raise awareness for ovarian cancer. The walk is scheduled to occur on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm along the stunning skyline views at Coronado Tidelands Park. Fun for all ages and mobilities, event participants can choose to walk or run the 1 or 2-mile route along the water with some friends, a team, or go solo.
Founded by Peg Ford, an 11 ½-year ovarian cancer survivor, The Ovarian Cancer Alliance of San Diego educates women on the symptoms, signs and risk factors of ovarian cancer. Through their HEAR™program: If I Only Knew Then What I Know Now, ovarian cancer survivors tell their own personal stories of how they were diagnosed, their treatment and how they are today. Ovarian cancer is the most lethal of all gynecological cancers and has no reliable screening test. Each year, 22,000 women in the US will receive an ovarian cancer diagnosis and 14,000 of those women will lose their battle, making early detection so important.
We hope through raising awareness among women of all ages, to empower them to be aware of their bodies and pay attention to symptoms which could lead to early-stage diagnosis when ovarian cancer is most treatable. We look forward to seeing everyone out there for what will be another beautiful day in America's Finest City.
