NPower Announces: Three New Members Join NPower's Board of Directors

The nonprofit tech training program — NPower — is proud to announce three new additions to their national board of directors. The new members include Larry Quinlan, Global Chief Information Officer with Deloitte; Steven Ballantyne, Chief of Staff with PowerSchool; and Retired Rear Admiral, Dwight D. Shepherd, who is a Senior Executive at CSRA Defense Group.

Larry Quinlan - Global Chief Information Officer

Larry Quinlan is a principal at Deloitte and serves as Global Chief Information Officer (CIO). He sits on Deloitte’s U.S. Executive and Global Operating Committees and also chairs the Global CIO Council.

Quinlan has responsibility for all facets of technology including strategy, applications, infrastructure, support, and execution. He spends significant time working with major clients discussing technology strategy, trends, and leadership. Additionally, he serves as dean of the Next Generation CIO Academy, Deloitte’s CIO leadership development program for client Executives.

He has been quoted in major publications including CIO.com, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and InformationWeek and has spoken at major industry events. Additionally, he has been honored by institutions and publications including STEMconnector’s 100 Diverse Corporate Leaders in STEM, the Nashville Business Journal (2014 CIO Award), and CIO Magazine (2012 CIO 100 Award). He also serves on the Advisory Board of Global Leadership Forum.

Steven Ballantyne - Chief of Staff

Steven Ballantyne is the Chief of Staff for PowerSchool, having joined from Vista Equity Partners. Previously Steven served as the Program Director for Project Realize, Vista’s strategic project for adopting and growing companies.

Ballantyne worked in business strategy and development at a prominent medical manufacturer and distributor. While there, he helped analyze new markets in the healthcare industry, managed the FDA approval process and design and patent new products. Steven’s experience also includes various positions in finance and community development at Morgan Stanley and at the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone.

Dwight D. Shepherd - Retired Rear Admiral and Senior Executive

RDML (Ret) Shepherd was commissioned an Ensign in June 1984 and earned his Naval Flight Officer wings July 1985. RDML (Ret) Shepherd operational command tours include: Fleet Air Reconnaissance 3 (VQ-3), the Navy’s largest aviation squadron. His major command was Strategic Communications Wing 1 and Task Force 124. He was the first black officer to command a TACAMO squadron and air wing.

RDML (Ret) Shepherd’s military decorations include: the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal (2 awards), Legion of Merit (2 awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corp Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Joint Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and other unit and service awards.

He is currently a Client Relations Executive (CRE) with CSRA International based in Washington, DC.
