National Education Foundation VP Art Stellar Named Tau Kappa Epsilon Excellence in Education Award Winner

The national college fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) has named Dr. Arthur Stellar as the 2017 recipient of the “The TKE Excellence in Education Award.” Dr. Stellar is a member of the Alpha Beta Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon at Ohio University. This award is given “For Outstanding Dedication and Service to Higher Education.”

Dr. Stellar is currently the Vice President of the National Education Foundation in McLean, Virginia.  In hearing about this honor, NEF’s Chairman Dr. Kuttan stated, “All of us at the National Education Foundation are proud of Dr. Stellar as he continues to demonstrate his dedication and why educators enjoy working with him, especially with obtaining Qualified Zone Academy Bonds.”

Dr. Stellar has taught at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is very active with alumni groups at Ohio University including serving as vice-chair of the Dean of the College of Education’s Circle of Engagement. In 2016, Stellar was awarded the Medal of Merit by the Ohio University Alumni Board. He has served as co-founder and president of the Central Ohio Alumni Chapter, sat on the National Alumni Board for Ohio U and served twice as president of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Ohio University Alumni Association.

Likewise, Stellar has been very active with Tau Kappa Epsilon, first as an undergraduate and now as an alum. He served as chapter advisor for the Ohio State Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon among other roles and currently serves on the TKE Foundation Board of Directors.

Professionally, Stellar is a widely recognized educator having served as a school superintendent for 25 years where he has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, as well as being widely published. For example, the American Association of School Administrators named Stellar as a 2016 Distinguished Service Award winner.

According to TKE Foundation Chairman Elmer Smith, “Dr. Stellar represents what being a “Life Long Teke” means. He is a positive role model for undergraduates as Teke prepares “Better Men for a Better World.”

Tau Kappa Epsilon is one of the largest college fraternity in the country by membership founded in 1899. There are 250 currently active chapters on college campuses.
