Leading Cybersecurity Experts to Convene at Yale University

Cybersecurity professionals from across the country will gather at Yale University this March 30 – April 1 for interactive, thought-provoking discussions at the first-ever Yale Cyber Leadership Forum.

The Forum aims to bridge the knowledge divide between law, technology, and business in cybersecurity. Along with McKinsey & Company as knowledge partner, the Forum will explore challenges posed by the divide and strategies for overcoming it, at both the firm and the policy/regulatory levels. The Forum will include expert panels, talks by the keynote speakers, and breakout seasons that will draw upon the expertise and active participation of Forum attendees.

"Lawyers, technologists and business leaders responding to cyber-threats frequently find themselves stymied by the difficulty of communicating across disciplinary, professional and technical boundaries. This leaves some critical questions unanswered--how should an organization prepare for cyber-attacks? What is the technical and legal landscape applicable to these cyber-threats? What is the role of the government vis-à-vis organizations that became targets of cyber-attacks? Our Forum is aimed at tackling these critical questions."

Oona A. Hathaway, Former director and Gerard C. and Bernice Latrobe Smith Professor of International Law at Yale Law School

Forum speakers are all noted thought leaders and innovators, including:

  • Richard Boscovich, Assistant General Counsel, Digital Crimes Unit, Microsoft
  • Christian Brose, Staff Director, Senate Armed Services Committee
  • Jay Leek, Managing Director, ClearSky
  • Samuel Palmisano, Chairman, Center for Global Enterprise; Former CEO, IBM
  • Adam Segal, Director, Digital and Cyberspace Policy Program, Council on Foreign Relations
  • Megan Stifel, Former Director for International Security Policy, National Security Council
  • And many more.

Participants attending the Forum can expect to hear from experts on a variety of topics, including:

  • Active Defense: Malware Takedowns and International Cyber-Crime Enforcement
  • Securing and Growing the Digital Economy
  • The Regulatory and Legal Landscape: What Law Governs?
  • The Challenges Posed by the Divide
  • The Technical Threat Landscape
  • And much more
