Kids R Kids of Round Rock's First Annual Summer Camp Program, Camp Amazing Kids

Kids R Kids of Round Rock, a local provider of quality childcare and educational services is thrilled to be able to offer an accredited summer camp program for school-age children.

Kids R Kids of Round Rock is thrilled to announce that May 2011 will be the beginning of their first annual summer camp program. Kids R Kids of Round Rock, which opened in August 2010 is a locally owned franchise of Kids R Kids Incorporated. Kids R Kids Incorporated is known for innovation and quality in the educational support they provide to thousands of children each year. Each year Kids R Kids crafts unique and challenging summer programs under the direction of some of America's foremost authorities on education.

"To say that children need stimulation over summer break is an understatement. With the recent budgetary problems our public schools are having just making certain that our children are stimulated over summer break is not enough to ensure that they will have the tools they need to succeed in a society that is becoming more global and more competitive. We must use the valuable summer months to give our children an edge," says Suzy Poe, Owner of Kids R Kids in Round Rock. "Camp Amazing Kids promises to do just that. We understand that children are diverse in the way they learn, that every child has different interests, that every child needs different things. We've chosen to implement the Camp Amazing Kids program because it allows for customization, providing each child with the experience they need," Poe continues.

Camp Amazing Kids has several programs that children can choose to take part in, including:
Taking the Food Challenge-Hands on nutritional training and cooking classes with healthy ingredients
The Creative Advantage-Performing and visual arts
Going for the Goal-Team and individual sports
To Inventions and Beyond-Science and business creation
Wondrous Explorers and Adventurers-Natural wonders, hiking and more!

Several studies have been done on the effectiveness of summer camps on building independence and responsibility in school-age children, one of the most having been conducted by Stephen Fine PhD. Dr. Fine's study found that summer camps are able to create specific learning activities that can link into the school curriculum. In his thesis Fine states that "Camp is a learning setting that is often motivational through the fun and camaraderie of peer and staff interaction, interesting settings and physically dynamic activities. A camp setting is an ideal educational environment as it provides optimal challenges, right sources of stimulation and a context of autonomy," Dr. Fine continues.

"Time and again developmental psychology has taught us that children who possess the soft skills of fairness, group interaction, discipline, and personal responsibility are more successful long term than those that have only mastered academics," says Poe, who holds a degree in Psychology. "Everyone on the Kids R Kids team understands this. We're proud to be able to say that we have what it takes to develop the whole child."
