International School for Autism Earns Certified Autism Center Designation
First of its kind in Kissimmee, Fla.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 19, 2019 (Newswire.com) - Working to ensure collaboration in academic, social, and therapeutic settings for students with special needs, the International School for Autism has taken these efforts a step further by becoming a Certified Autism Center (CAC).
The CAC designation, awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), means that at least 80% of the staff have been trained and certified in autism and the organization has a commitment to ongoing training in the area of autism and special needs education.
“Individualizing academic curriculums, life skills training, prevocational studies, as well as programs such as autism movement, equine, and aquatic therapy has proven to be of great success for students: especially when implemented in conjunction with behavioral, speech and occupational therapy. We have directly seen the results and developments that have subsequently taken place: we are emboldened in knowing that from these small seeds, many trees have begun to sprout,” said Dr. Mara Ramirez, CEO and founder at The International School for Autism. “IBCCES has helped us by offering the tools necessary for a better performance and understanding of students within the autism spectrum.”
For almost 20 years, IBCCES has been the industry leader in autism training for licensed healthcare professionals and educators around the globe. More parents are now seeking out organizations that have completed research-based training and professional review to ensure the best experience possible for their children.
“We’re excited to work with such a great organization that truly cares about the outcomes of its students and its staff development. We want to help professionals create safe, knowledgeable environments for individuals with autism to learn and flourish,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman.
“International School for Autism prides itself in providing educators across Latin America enriching and motivating training in the latest techniques and methods used in the field of autism. Due to this training program’s success, last year we decided to offer it in the United States, and this year we will again be opening our doors during the summer months to offer this valuable program. We work closely with the school district to ensure that students receive the appropriate resources for their condition, and our aim is to train our teachers in a way that will ensure that students will receive the highest-quality of education,” said Ramirez.
The school has also received the City of Kissimmee Mayoral Proclamation by the honorable Mayor Jose Alvarez. This recognition was awarded for the outstanding service in the field of autism and for being the first specialized academic institution in the community of Kissimmee, awarded both in 2016 and 2017.
