H2O Team Cycles US - 8800 Plus Miles For H2O Solutions In Under-Developed Nations

The h2o team will pedal more than 8800 miles around the US,145 days, one mile for every 100,000 people on earth drinking unsafe water today. The goal to raise $20 per mile - enough money to bring clean water to 8,840 people for a generation.

Austin, TX -- The h2o team plan to cover more than 8800 miles in 145 days. They pedal one mile for every 100,000 people on earth who drink unsafe water today. The h2o Team's five cyclists ride with a goal to raise $20 per mile -$176,800 which is enough money to bring clean water to 8,840 people for a generation. They hope to be hosted by the communities they stop in each day.

The cyclists will be wearing blue and yellow jerseys. These endurance, adventure riders come from Plano and Austin, Texas and Gillet, Wisconsin. Two of the cyclists are Texas 4000 alumni (Austin to Anchorage), another rider completed a solo journey from the Washington State border to San Francisco and one finished a run across America last year in support of clean water solutions. In addition to the cyclists, they have a support vehicle driven by a husband and wife team, along with their young daughter.

The team left from the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge in Austin, TX on Monday, June 20th to begin this missional bicycle tour. The route this team of young Christians mapped out will encircle our nation (8840 miles). The tour is heading west toward San Francisco, then north toward the Canadian border, across the northern states, around the Great Lakes, down the east coast, along the Gulf States and back to Austin, TX by mid- November 2011.

With the goal of raising $20 per mile, rider Abe Clark responds, "It is amazing what Americans can do when thousands of people rally together to accomplish a single goal. We can bring fresh water to a remote village. We can save a child from a death caused by dehydration or water-related illness." Riding out of their compassion for those who do not have access to clean, safe drinking water, the h2o ride supports the work of Living Water International. LWI is a 501(c)(3) organization who set out nearly 20 years ago, to help the church in North America learn how to serve the poorest of the poor. They train, consult, and equip local people in under-developed countries on how to implement water solutions. With more than 9,000 water projects (and counting!) they have reached out to communities in 26 countries.

The h2o ride route and planned schedule, as well as ways you can support their efforts, can be found on their website at h2oride.org.
