Girlfriendology Focuses On The

Girlfriendology, the online community for women based on inspiration, appreciation and celebration of female friendship, celebrates it's fifth birthday of being online. Girlfriendology has grown through social media, inspiring content and more.

Facebook had 5.5 million active users, YouTube had just officially launched and Twitter was months from its first tweet - in January 2006.

At the same time, Debba Haupert had a dream of inspiring women to be better, more supportive friends and started a blog called Girlfriendology. The idea came from the nature of women to need female friendship and be 'social.'

Since January, 2006, social media sites have exploded in popularity. Facebook now has over 500 million active users, YouTube serves more than two billion videos a day and Twitter delivers 65 million tweets a day.

Girlfriendology.com - the online community for inspiration, appreciation and celebration of female friendship has also experienced phenomenal growth largely because of the tremendous growth in social media.

"Two girlfriends dealing with cancer made me long to be around my friends and inspired me to start Girlfriendology in January, 2006. Now with the power of social media and women online, Girlfriendology has grown to tens of thousands of impressions on women - every day," said Haupert.

Over the past five years Girlfriendology has reached out to thousands of females online through their 20,000+ Twitter followers (primarily women) and 13,000+ (and growing) female Facebook fans, as well as thousands of women on their newsletter mailing list and online community. In the past year alone, Girlfriendology Facebook fans have increased 665% and DAILY post impressions have grown to 40,000 - 80,000 on Facebook.com/Girlfriendology.

Haupert added, "The fact is, female friendship makes women healthier, happier, less stressed, live longer and feel more beautiful. Women, being generally more social, have embraced social media (per Rapleaf and other studies) so it's natural for us to connect with our friends online."

Due to the exponential increase in online traffic and social media impressions, Girlfriendology has had the opportunity to partner with 'girlfriend recommended' brands like Kroger, Healthy Choice, Frito-lay, The UPS Store, Office Max, Crystal Light, and Orville Redenbacher. In 2010, Girlfriendology Founder Debba Haupert was featured in a Biz detergent national TV commercial and print ads (Sunday newspaper FSI delivered into 57 million households). Girlfriendology is part of the Lifestyle Blogger Network of Cincinnati.com/Cincinnati Enquirer - a Gannett media site.

What does the future hold for social media? No doubt, more ways to connect, gather and share information, and promote and grow businesses. For Girlfriendology, 2011 will bring webinars and eBooks sharing 'women's wisdom,' a girlfriend cruise to Bermuda, licensing the Girlfriendology brand and more opportunities to partner with 'girlfriend recommended' brands. As in the past five years, Girlfriendology will continue to provide inspiring content (blog posts, BlogTalkradio shows, eBooks, videos, etc.), create licensed girlfriend gifts and grow this female community through social media connections.
