Futurist Jack Uldrich's Predictions for 2017
Minneapolis, MN, December 22, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Minneapolis, MN, December 21, 2016 (Newswire) -Global Futurist Jack Uldrich good-naturedly says to his clients, "If a Futurist tells you he or she can predict the future, run!"
To put this into greater perspective, Uldrich often riffs on John Wanamaker's quote of “Half the money I spend on advertising is wasted; the trouble is I don’t know which half.” Uldrich modifies it by saying, “Half of the predictions I hear about the future are wrong; the trouble is I don’t know which half.”
If a Futurist tells you he or she can actually predict the future, Run!
Jack Uldrich, Global Futurist
While this may be an odd statement coming from someone who is a full-fledged futurist, Jack Uldrich says in no uncertain terms, "No one can predict the future."
He says he likes the modification of Wanamaker's quote because "it reinforces the more important idea that we must all maintain a healthy dose of humility about the future."
"Since no one can predict the future, we must strive to remain flexible enough to adapt to whichever 'half' of the predictions do come true."
As 2016 draws to a close, it is time for Uldrich's Predictions for 2017. For the past five years, Uldrich has authored a tongue in cheek article offering certain "predictions" for the new year.
"These forecasts," says Uldrich, "are provided in the spirit of light-hearted fun and are not intended to be taken literally. Each merely reflects a broader trend that readers can expect to see, experience or read about in the coming year."
Uldrich's predictions include, but are not limited to “the Amazonian Mall of the Future”–a virtual mall created by Amazon that will put the physical Mall of America to shame regarding the sheer number of items available for purchase.
For more realistic perspectives on each trend, Uldrich allows you to click on embedded links within the article. Most importantly, Uldrich says, "Enjoy reading!"
