Free Teleconference Answers How Churches Can Deal with a Financial Crisis

Marcuson Leadership Circle sponsors a free monthly conference call. This month's topic: "How Do Church Leaders Face a Financial Crisis?" Thursday, October 18, 2010, noon ET.

The Rev. J. Edwin Bacon, Jr. , will be the guest of Margaret Marcuson on a free teleconference call September 16, 2010, noon ET on an important topic: how churches deal with a financial Crisis.

Many churches are facing budget crisis, or at least budget crunches, as economic challenges continue. Bacon talks about the importance of relationships, especially in crisis: "A leader can be so much more innovative, courageous, daring, adventurous, calm down the system down, to the degree that the connections are made vibrant and authentic." He adds, "What is so important in relationships is that we connect our being to the being of another person, and not have the relationship conditioned on whether or not someone agrees with us. People feel that: when you are together, they feel that they are important to you and you are important to them."

Marcuson, author of Leaders Who Last: Sustaining Yourself and Your Ministry (Seabury 2009) and a forthcoming book on churches and money, will engage Bacon in conversation with the opportunity for listeners to ask questions.

Ed Bacon has been the rector of All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena, California, since 1995. His energies focus on leadership in anxious times, peacemaking, interfaith relations, integrating family, faith and work systems, and articulating the Christian faith in non-bigoted ways. He is currently a guest host for Oprah's Soul Series on Sirius XM Radio.

Teleconference call-in information is available by calling 503-701-7621 or e-mailing Margaret@margaretmarcuson.com. There is a limit of 99 callers. A recording will be available for those who cannot make the call.
