FICCI FLO Mumbai Chapter Distributes Bicycles To The Girls Of Varu Kothurne High School

As a special activity on this Independence day, FLO Mumbai, under the chairmanship of Ms Renu Kathuria gave away cycles to the underprivileged girls of Varu Kothurne High School in Pawane to help them in their travelling to school.

FICCI FLO, the ladies wing of the prestigious trade body FICCI( Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry), Bombay Chapter, keeping up with their mission of educating the girl child, on the occasion of Independence Day, distributed over 36 bicycles donated by the FLO members to girl students at Varu Kothurne High School Pawane yesterday.

This event was arranged by the school authorities with the help of an NGO, Jankidevi Bajaj Gram Vikas Sansthan. The idea was born last year when Sucheta Shah(2011-12) was the chairperson of FLO Bombay chapter and was eventually concluded on 15th August 2012. Speaking at the event, the current Chairperson of FLO Bombay, Ms Renu Kathuria said that she looks forward to various such events by FLO which would help more girls to attend school thus helping in education more number of girls.

FLO was established in 1983, as a division of FICCI which is the apex body of industry and commerce in India. As an All India Organization for women, FLO has chapters in Mumbai, Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Guwahati and Kolkata with its head office in Delhi. Its members comprise of entrepreneurs, professionals and Corporate Executives.

FLO works in association with their parent body FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry). The primary objective of FLO is to promote entrepreneurship and professional excellence in women. FLO endeavors to enhance the various skills of women through its educational and vocational training programmes, talks, seminars, panel discussion and workshop on a wide range of subjects like information technology, taxation, insurance, venture capital, stock market operations, accountancy, marketing, mutual funds, investment planning, entrepreneurship development programmes etc. FLO also focus on women related legal and social issues like uniform civil code, domestic violence, etc.
