BRYAN, Texas, July 8, 2021 (Newswire.com) - Parks! America, a public animal safari & amusement park company is looking for a motivated, organized and hands-on General Manager. This position requires relocation to the Bryan-College Station, Texas area near Houston at the Aggieland Wild Animal Safari. The successful General Manager will be organized, experienced in hiring, training, and scheduling up to 50+ employees (full-time and part-time) in a park ranger outdoors type atmosphere. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for this team leadership position. The successful candidate will be able to lead and manage multiple divisions including animal care operations, maintenance, retail, food & beverage, admissions, and parking. Park Manager & General Manager oversees entire Park/Zoo operation including safety of visitors and employees, animal care, daily operations, hiring & training of staff, labor scheduling and costs, park & CAPEX maintenance, managing the P&L. We can teach the business to motivated candidates with good organizational and communication skills. Successful candidates should have good management, communication, and people skills.
All positions are hands-on. Aggieland Safari is open 363 days a year. This position will include benefits, which will include paid sick days, paid holidays, vacation days and company-sponsored health insurance (Fall of 2021). New hires will be eligible for benefits the first of the month after 60 days of employment.
- Reports to the Executive Vice President.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop and supervise a diverse team of employees which includes zookeepers, maintenance staff, admissions team members, food & beverage staff, retail team members, group sales coordinators and park services team members.
- Operate the park as efficiently as possible, while maintaining safety and guest service standards.
- Implement and monitor all company policies and procedures.
- Comply with all corporate daily and weekly reporting requirements. Accuracy of paperwork is essential.
- Complete and appropriately file all required inspections, daily checklists, maintenance reports and USDA paperwork.
- Maintain appropriate control of expenses, labor hours, operating costs, and inventory within areas of responsibility.
- Lead the company safety program. Comply with, review, and adjust any operational health and safety procedures which risk the company or animals. Comply with all OSHA standards including required and documented employee training, certifications, and Job Hazard Assessments (JHA's), with particular attention to Job Hazard Assessments & safety meetings.
- Responsible for any other duties as directed by the senior executive corporate team.
- Must have State and/or Federal vehicle valid license to drive a personal or company vehicle as there is frequent travel back and forth between veterinary visits, operating supply runs and contractor meetings.
