As America honored its Veterans, the College Promise Campaign has started a month-long awareness initiative so Veteran students understand how college promise programs across the U.S. can help support them in their higher education pursuits.

College Promise is a nonprofit that works with college promise programs in 44 states for youth and/or adult residents. College Promise programs allow students to start and complete a community college education without taking on mountains of student debt. While individual program models vary, they all have a commitment to fund a college education for every eligible student, advancing on the path to earn a degree, a certificate, and/or credits that transfer to a four-year university, often starting in America’s community colleges.

Our supporters have made important investments in the College Promise Campaign, enabling hundreds of thousands of additional hardworking students to complete a quality degree, certificate, or university transfer requirements without the burden of exorbitant college debt. We intend to highlight various programs and support services that are bolstering Veteran student success. This continued collaboration across the nation increases the likelihood of students reaching their full potential.

The hurdles facing students will be illuminated this week during special screenings in San Francisco of the documentary “Fail State.” The producers are joining an expanding group of individuals, corporations and nonprofits in supporting the college promise movement; they have decided to donate ticket sales from “Fail State” screenings in San Francisco to the College Promise Campaign and others are invited to donate as well.

“Our supporters have made important investments in the College Promise Campaign, enabling hundreds of thousands of additional hardworking students to complete a quality degree, certificate, or university transfer requirements without the burden of exorbitant college debt,” says Rosye Cloud, Vice President, College Promise Campaign. “We intend to highlight various programs and support services that are bolstering Veteran student success. This continued collaboration across the nation increases the likelihood of students reaching their full potential.”

The College Promise Campaign is a nonpartisan, nonprofit higher education initiative that builds widespread support for funding quality college programs for all hardworking students. In the 21st century, a high school diploma is no longer enough to lead Americans to a good job and decent quality of life. CPC is an initiative of Civic Nation, a 501(c)(3) organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.
