Dr. Ira Kurtz Joins Implantable Artificial Kidney Corp Advisory Board
Los Angeles, CA, October 16, 2014 (Newswire.com) - After a lengthy search, Dr. Ira Kurtz, Chief of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Division of Nephrology was invited to join the Advisory Board of the Implantable Artificial Kidney Corporation (IAKC). Dr. Kurtz will play an important role in advising IAKC in all aspects of the research and development of the IAK-1 implantable artificial kidney. Dr. Kurtz will assist IAKC to advance the development of the IAK-1 through all phases of laboratory and animal testing, and ultimately human trials, leading to approval of the IAK-1 by the FDA.

About Dr. Ira Kurtz, M.D., FRCP (C)
Professor of Medicine, Chief of the Division of Nephrology at UCLA, Factor Chair in Molecular Nephrology
Dr. Kurtz is a board certified internist and nephrologist who has been practicing clinical nephrology for nearly 30 years. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto, and completed his postgraduate training at the University of California, San Francisco, and the National Institute of Health. Dr. Kurtz is a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation, the American Physiological Society, the Biophysical Society, the American Society of Nephrology, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. On faculty at UCLA since 1985, Dr. Kurtz has authored over 300 scientific publications, book chapters, and abstracts. He is on the editorial board of several journals and is a reviewer of major scientific publications.
