Discover the Storied City by the Bay With Destination: Scientology, San Francisco
LOS ANGELES, January 7, 2020 (Newswire.com) - Scientology Network’s DESTINATION: SCIENTOLOGY, the weekly travelogue series that takes viewers inside Scientology churches all around the world and discovers what makes each one unique, presents an episode featuring San Francisco.
DESTINATION: SCIENTOLOGY airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Scientology Network.
ABOUT DESTINATION: SCIENTOLOGY, SAN FRANCISCO
Cross the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and enter a city born from the Gold Rush of the 1840s and sustained from the Tech Rush of the new millennium — San Francisco. At the heart of the Financial District stands the Church of Scientology San Francisco. Housed in a registered historic landmark, the church meticulously restored the original Transamerica Building that stands adjacent to the towering Transamerica Pyramid. This episode takes viewers on a tour of this storied city, from Fisherman’s Wharf and Chinatown to Lombard Street, the most crooked street in the world, and Haight-Ashbury, the birthplace of the “Summer of Love.” And no tour of the City by the Bay would be complete without a ride up and down its hills on an honest-to-goodness San Francisco cable car.
Today, the church and its staff carry on the tradition of help that its founder, L. Ron Hubbard, began in the city in 1950. Not long after Hubbard wrote Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, he toured the country lecturing. It was at the Oakland Municipal Auditorium where he delivered a series of lectures that are the first where Hubbard can be heard talking about Dianetics.
This episode captures the spirit of one of the most charming big cities in the world and provides a glimpse into all the church does to enliven it, empowering its people to create a safer, saner future of which all can be proud.
