DIS Announces New Director to Manage National Education Projects
Larry D. Smith Brings Over 15 Years of Experience in Project Management and Education
Online, November 18, 2015 (Newswire.com) - SAN ANTONIO--Deaf Interpreter Services, Inc. (DIS), an organization specializing in sign language and oral interpretation, video remote interpreting (VRI), captioning/CART services and video production, announces the appointment of Larry D. Smith as director of program management and business development. Smith will be responsible for managing DIS' creation of American Sign Language (ASL) videos for national education projects. He will handle every aspect of the initiative, including the preliminary project scope, overseeing the in-house studio team, and managing the relationships with superintendents and assessment directors.

Smith has over 15 years of program management experience working with schools at every level and state departments of education across the country. As program manager for DIS, Smith helped develop DIS' video component team and manage contracts for clients from around the nation. He also facilitated all of the necessary requirements to work with the largest education consortium in the country.

Smith has a marketing and advertising degree from Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology-Okmulgee. He moved to San Antonio to start his career in education over two decades ago. After a brief stint teaching, Smith moved into the program management side of the industry and handled some of the very early development of online testing at Pearson.
