DirectRooms.com reveals that the World Affairs Councils of America have a series of excursions planned in 2011 that will take visitors on a tour of a variety of culturally diverse countries accompanied by leading experts

The series of trips will start with, Myanmar and Laos with Dr. Donald Stadtner from 3rd to 16th February 2011 and sees the expert on art and culture in Asia leading the group around each country's key landmarks and places of interest.

The journey starts in Yangon and attendees will be given an introduction and explanation about Burmese culture and some of the more common customs. This will be conducted by Ms Ma Thanegi a well known author on Burma's history and traditions.

Visitors are then led to the Shwedagon Pagoda, Burma's most famous landmark and the most significant to the people as it contains eight hairs from Buddha. As part of the tour site visit guides will give an account of the stupa's construction which has been rebuilt a number of times along with its history as a pilgrimage site for many Buddhists.

The next stage of the programme heads to Mandalay to explore the monastery of Shwe Nandaw Kyuang which also enshrines some of the bones of Buddha. After Myanmar the tour stops at Laos to take in the landmarks of Vientiane before finishing in Luang Prabang where group members are free to relax in the Luang Prabang hotels .
