Designer Eyewear Shop In Cincinnati And 141 Eyewear Partner Up In Launch Of Eyewear For A Cause

Designer Optical shop and 141 Eyewear team together with their new line of designer glasses promoting Eyewear clinics and glasses to help those in need from around the world.

Having clear vision to be able to see the world presents the need for proper eyewear because without it, one's quality of life is profoundly impacted. Sadly, many communities around the world lack a viable source of income to support its citizens with a regular wage, much less provide solutions for their vision problems. In fact, the World Health Organization estimates that roughly 153 million people who need corrective eyewear cannot afford it or do not have access to proper vision care.

In an effort to make a small dent in this epidemic with a straightforward, Cincinnati, Ohio optometrist office Madeira Optical and 141 Eyewear join forces for a philanthropic business plan: The Launch of 141 designer eyewear collection.

"The 141 collection represents timeless style and high-quality hand crafted frames at a reasonable price point. The philanthropic effort to provide eyewear to the needy on a one-for-one basis was the wow moment that got this unique collection in our shop," said Dr. Malinda Pence, owner of Madeira Optical and Optometrist.

"We saw an opportunity to help those in need by starting a for-profit company that will produce top-quality designer frames for all types of people," said Shu-Chu Wu, co-founder of Portland, Oregon-based 141 Eyewear. "We hope to create a sustainable solution of providing eyewear to those in need by selling our glasses."

The launch of 141 designer eyewear at Madeira Optical is attributed to an eye patient who, at one time, was a colleague of 141 Eyewear co-founder, Kyle Yamaguchi at Procter & Gamble. Madeira Optical investigated the patient's recommendation and found an excellent partner in the 141 Eyewear.

Talking about the collaborative effort for charity, Dr. Pence adds: "141 Eyewear has a similar vision to Madeira Optical. We want to be a productive part of the local community and deliver eye care and eyewear that is well made and stylish."

Reinforcing its philanthropic efforts, 141 Eyewear is giving away a new pair of prescription glasses to a person in need for each pair of 141 Eyewear purchased. "We're blessed to be in a position to start a company and help these people," said Mr. Kamaguchi.

Madeira Optical was formed in 1956. Detailed at MadeiraOptical.com, the company offers a large selection of eyewear, sunglasses and contact lenses, as well as optometry practice that encompasses comprehensive eye exams, contact lens evaluations and treatment of eye diseases.
