Daughters4Dads Father's Day Contest

Girls Win Tickets for a Yankee Game for Your Dad

By making special Father's Day cards online for their dads and for dads serving the country, girls can win tickets to Yankee games and gift certificates to the Hard Rock Cafe at Yankee Stadium. The contest is being sponsored by the not-for-profit, For Girls And Tomorrow's America (www.fgata.org), whose mission is to inspire more girls to pursue educations and careers in math, science and technology. Research has shown that fathers are a major influence in these areas. It has also shown that many girls wish they could spend more time with their dads. The Daughters4Dads contest will award prizes that allow them to do that and take their dads to a ballgame. It's a way for girls to both remember their own dads and to give back to dads serving the country in the New York National Guard. The contest starts today and will continue through Father's Day, Sunday, June 20.

The cards they make are called "V-cards", which are e-cards created with one's voice using an application called VoicePainter Cards. The application can be accessed for free at www.voicepainter.com. The "V" in V-cards stands for Voice and Video because the cards contain both. The application lets girls include their own personal spoken and written messages. The cards are sent via the Internet by the sponsor in support of these special dads. The cards go to the Family Support Groups of the New York State National Guard, who in turn send them directly to the dads wherever they are.
