Commercial Site Furnishings Assists in Creating Custom Tables for Disabled Students

Online, June 30, 2011 (Newswire.com) - MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Commercial Site Furnishings, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Online Commerce Group, LLC, recently completed a large order for Bassett High School in La Puente, Calif. including 85 picnic tables and 60 trash receptacles. Of the 85 tables, 36 were standard ADA compliant tables while eight were custom built to meet the ADA Code, as well as the customer's needs. According to ADA standards, 5 percent of public seating space intended for food and drink consumption should be accessible to the disabled. To meet these standards while maintaining the school's budget, Commercial Site Furnishings worked closely with Leisure Craft's production manager and engineers to design and construct custom tables that would provide more wheelchair accessibility per table. While standard ADA tables typically allow only one wheel chair per table, the custom tables provide for as many as five wheel chairs at a single table. With the addition of the custom tables, Bassett High School was able to meet ADA standards and provide seating for both disabled students and nondisabled students. The high school, which has a special program for disabled students within the surrounding area, plans to use the tables for an outdoor dining area for students.
