About the dip in the interest in poetry, Javed Akhtar had earlier commented that the generation had changed a lot and poetry had lost its value. However he was hopeful that despite the lack of interest, there are many people who are still interested in it. He feels that the younger lot has forgotten the art of poetry because it was never a part of an education system and their environment. His new collection, he said was a reflection of his thoughts that went beyond the realms of Bollywood.
Akhtar's previous collection of poetry Tarkash was released fourteen years ago and he read out poems such as Shabana, Mela and Doraha. Vice President of India, M. Hamid Ansari and Akhtar's family that included noted film personalities Shabana Azmi, Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar were present at the event.
