Bay Event Marketing Shares Virtues of Business Travel

Bay Event Marketing's leaders consider travel opportunities as investments in both company culture and personnel development. The firm's director discussed specific benefits gained from travelling.

According to Elise, Bay Event Marketing’s director of operations, business leaders must build cohesive teams in order to achieve success. “Hiring exceptional people isn’t enough – once the key players are on board, you have to get them working together,” the director explained.

To reach this end, Elise and the Bay Event Marketing leaders look for ways to encourage camaraderie in the workplace. One of their favorite methods is to sponsor social activities such as bowling nights and company dinners, which give associates chances to get to know one another outside their professional roles. However, the most profound and lasting relationships are always built when teammates travel together.

"There is nothing like a travel opportunity to create strong connections,"

Elise, Director of Operations

“There is nothing like a travel opportunity to create strong connections,” Elise stated. “For example, some of us just returned from a qualifying event in the Bahamas, and the friendships that were made there in just a couple days are stronger than anything we could have accomplished in a whole year of working together.”

The strength of these bonds helps make the Bay Event Marketing team more collaborative and productive. It translates into greater innovation for the campaigns they create. “It’s difficult to assign a specific dollar value to travel opportunities, but I have no doubt that they’re worthwhile investments,” Elise explained.

Bay Event Marketing’s Director Talks Specific Skills Bolstered Through Travel

“Obviously there is a lot to learn about our industry when the Bay Event Marketing team attends weekend conferences or educational seminars, but I feel that the act of leaving home and seeing new places is an education all by itself,” the director declared. “There are a number of professional skills that are reinforced through travel.”

For example, Elise points out that professionals gain new appreciation for time management when journeying away from home. Planning travel routes, catching flights, and prioritizing and coordinating group activities all shake people out of their normal nine-to-five routines, which many can get through with relatively little effort.

Along those same lines, the successful completion of any trip – business or otherwise – requires foresight and organization. “Again, this is something that most successful businesspeople do well to some degree, but it takes on a different dimension when planning for a trip. You can’t just run back home if you forget something.”
