Avema Announces New CIO Roundtable Series
Toronto, ON, September 5, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Avema Corporation, a Toronto-based Telecom and Mobile Management company, has launched a CIO Roundtable Series to provide IT executives with the opportunity to learn from their peers. The roundtable will be held three times per year, and will include a panel of experts to provide insight into various telecom issues.
“There is currently no IT executive peer group that is focused on the unique role that telecom plays in the IT department,” said Roger Yang, CEO of Avema Corporation. “Our goal is to provide a vendor-neutral forum where IT executives can share their experiences, and learn from their peers.”

The first event in this exclusive series is entitled “VoIP: Balancing the Risks and Benefits of Voice over IP.” On hand will be five experts who can share their perspective on the issue. Ned Zecevic, VP of Eastern Canada, IT with Canaccord has already migrated his organization to VoIP, and will be able to share Canaccord’s journey. Eric Boehm, Partner, IT Practice, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, will offer insight into the legal issues that VoIP presents, especially surrounding data integrity and security. Also on hand will be John Collins, Director, Telus, Aldo Fazzalari, Director, Avaya Canada, and telecom industry veteran, Roger Yang, CEO of Avema Corporation.
“We’ve witnessed the telecom industry grow from a very specialized focus, namely voice lines and phone systems, into a myriad of services and technologies, that touch not only telephone systems, but have essentially become the backbone of an organization’s entire range of communications,” said Yang. “IT executives are often handling the widest range of functions within a company, and telecom is not often brought to the surface as a pressing issue. However, the lifeblood of an organization is communicating with clients, and IT is accountable for this function.”
Avema’s CIO Roundtable Series is a limited seating event. To inquire further or register, IT executives should visit www.Avema.com. There are a few seats designated for media, which can be reserved by calling 416-348-7280.
