Avasant Digital Youth Employment Initiative Honors Promising Haitian Graduates
Los Angeles, CA, April 8, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Graduating students were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements and are well on their way to pursuing sustainable career opportunities in the growing ICT and BPO industry.
This four-week immersive program educated thirty students ages 18 to 24 on a range of core business and technology processes. The training focused on social, customer, and technology skills for entry-level career opportunities in the ICT and BPO industry in Haiti. Experienced trainers and industry experts prepared the students through classroom training, role-play and interviews. The students also received first-hand experience with contact center operations through site visits to the offices of Digicel and BIMA.
Michael Verch, President of AHTIC notes, "AHTIC was very honored to partner with Avasant Foundation on this project. As an emerging multilingual BPO destination with over 55% of the population between 15-54 years, Haiti will benefit tremendously from investments in this industry. This program helps our deserving youth gain valuable and world class knowledge necessary to be competitive in a global market. We were very pleased to witness the transformation of these Haitian students after only 4 weeks of training and are committed to continue working with Avasant Foundation"
"The skill training programs we provide are pathways to a brighter future. These thirty graduates will be employed in the corporate sector, equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed. I am very proud of them,” remarked Chitra Rajeshwari, Executive Director of Avasant Foundation.
The Foundation’s efforts in Haiti represent the Digital Youth Employment Initiative’s second successful skill development program. The Digital Youth Employment Initiative continues to expand its reach and sets out to impact other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean region. “As this program expands, we look towards new opportunities and deeper partnerships to push forward the mission of youth employment and education. Facilitating greater confidence and professional skill development for these promising young adults is not only at the core of our Foundation, but essential to the success of the Haitian BPO Industry, and emerging economies around the world,” asserts Kevin S. Parikh, Avasant Foundation Chairman and Avasant CEO.
Student JW Guideon said, “After four weeks of training I have acquired so many skills and discovered my passion for customer service. Working with customers is going to be a daily challenge but I am now prepared for this challenge.”
