Academics In A Box Announces Name Change of Its Signature STEM-based Subscription Service
Online, May 2, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Academics in a Box today announced it has changed the name of its subscription service, "Einstein in a Box." The new name, effective immediately, is "Groovy Lab in a Box." The change in product name reflects the company's desire to re-energize children's love for science, similar to how children were interested in science during the 1950s and 1960s.
"Our entire visual identity focuses on a retro look-and-feel for our product," explains Elaine Hansen, co-founder of Academics in a Box. "After much deliberation, we decided our original product name did not represent our visual identity. We want our subscription products to reflect a time when learning science was 'groovy," which is how we came up with our new product name, Groovy Lab in a Box."
The company will begin changing the name on its website and social media channels immediately. Customers will be notified of the name change through the company's monthly newsletter, as well as an insert in May's subscription boxes. Product packaging and materials will reflect the new name once older supplies are depleted.
"As an environmentally aware company, we will not throw away materials because it has our original name on it. That's not how we like to operate from a fiscal and environmental perspective," said Monica Canavan, co-founder of Academics in a Box. "As we deplete our original products and packaging, we will replace them with items branded Groovy Lab in a Box. We are confident that our customers will support and understand our sustainability efforts."
The Groovy Lab in a Box subscription service remains the same. Children will receive a STEM-based monthly themed box that has everything they need to complete the investigations in the lab notebook. The lab notebook will also guide the children through an engineering design process, where they must apply what they have learned from the investigations and use their critical thinking skills to complete the engineering design project. Each box is supported by Groovy Lab in a Box's unique web portal, "Beyond…In a Box," which contains additional learning activities for subscribers. Groovy Lab in a Box is designed for children, ages 8 and up. Parents and teachers can learn more by visiting www.GroovyLabinaBox.com.
