Absinthes.com Releases Exclusive Pictures Of The Famous Absinthe Museum

Absinthe historian Marie-Claude Delahaye grants Absinthes.com permission to shoot and publish images from inside this world renowned museum

The Musee de l'Absinthe in Auvers sur Oise, is a unique place, where absinthe antiques, historic paintings and other prestigious relics of the past are collected and preserved. Historians, absinthe devotees and art-lovers from all over Europe visit the museum to appreciate its unique exhibits.

Each year, Delahaye organises the Absinthe Day, where she gives historians and absinthe fans the opportunity to trade absinthe-related antiques with each other at a dedicated flea-market, and to spend the day in good company with people all equally in thrall to the green goddess.

Marc Thuillier, one of the absinthe experts behind Absinthes.com travelled to Auvers sur Oise - the town most famous for being where Vincent van Gogh took his own life and his final resting place - for this years' Absinthe Day event.

Monsieur Thuillier was granted permission - a world first - to reveal online what the inside of the museum looks like. These images have been made accessible on the official Absinthes.com facebook page.

"It was a great honour to be allowed to take those pictures. Most of these collectibles and antiques have immense value to historians, researchers of the Belle Epoque era, not to mention their monetary value! Marie-Claude was very generous and I could not be more grateful. She knew that we would take great care of this material. By revealing these photos we are first and foremost we want to encourage people to visit this wonderful museum."

Whether you are an absinthe lover or not, these pictures attracts one's attention, not only is the building where the museum is in, a beauty itself, but the collectibles and rare antiques are just breathtaking, they mirror the past, and show how absinthe was enjoyed by French people across all strata of society from the working class to the nobility.

Marie-Claude herself runs the museum for her own pleasure. Absinthes.com has no commercial interest in the Museum: indeed, the two only share the common interest of spreading their knowledge accurate information about absinthe around the world.
Marc is off next weekend to the absinthe festival in the village of Boveresse, Switzerland, where absinthe makers as well as fans meet, chat, and - obviously, bonding over a glass of absinthe - have a good time.
