The 7th pay Commission report set-up in February 2014, to revise remuneration of central government employees and pensioners submitted its report on November 19,2015.
§ The chairperson of Commission Justice AK Mathur said the pay revision will come into effect from January next year (2016)
§ 7th pay commission report has recommended 23.55 percent hike in pay and allowances if government employees.
§ Minimum basic pay of 18 thousand and maximum of 2.5 lakh rupees per month have been suggested by the Commission.
A glance at the major recommendations of 7th pay Commission:
§ The commission has recommended abolition of grade pay and pay band structure. According to the report rate of annual increment for employees will be three percent.
§ The minimum pay and the basic pay will start at 18000 rupees. The total increase in the basic pay will be 14.27 percent.
§ Maximum pay for a apex scale is 2,25,000 rupees. The pay structure, state of employees health too, the fitment formula will be 2.57 for all. The annual increment will be 3 percent. we have kept the MACP i.e. same 10,20 and 30 years.
§ Under the recommendation, the pay will go up by 16 percent, allowances by 63 percent and pension by 24 percent.
§ The commission report has also recommended increase in military service pay besides revised pension formula for civil employees including Central Armed Police Force and Defense Personnel retiring before 1st January 2016.
§ Commission has recommended abolition of 52 allowances and introduction of a Health Insurance Scheme.
§ The Commission also recommended One Rank One Pension for central government staffers, para military as well as armed forces personnel.
§ The pay revision will impact 47 lakh serving employees and 52 lakh pensioners and will cost public exchequer over one lakh crore rupees annually.
§ Besides, implementation of Pay Commission will impact fiscal deficit by 0.65 percent.
§ Its recommendations will also have a bearing on the salaries of the state government staff.
