15th Annual Global EAWC ''Artemis Awards'' Ceremony Takes Place on the Hill

The 15th Annual EAWC Artemis Awards Ceremony took place at the Capitol with an audience of distinguished leaders and celebrities from around the world in attendance.

The European American Women's Council (EAWC) held its 15th Annual Artemis Awards Ceremony on Thursday, October 27, 2011. The ceremony took place in the Rayburn Building with an audience of distinguished leaders and celebrities from the United States and across the globe in attendance.

The first Artemis Award of the evening was presented to the Honorable Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney. Congresswoman Maloney then surprised Ms. Loula Loi Alafoyiannis, President/ Founder Euro-American Women's Council, by presenting her with the United States Flag which was flown at the Capitol that day in honor of Ms. Alafoyiannis.

Ms. Connie Lawn, Senior White House Correspondence and Ms. Edie Fraser, Senior Consultant, Diversified Search served as co-masters of ceremonies. The global Artemis Awards host committee consisted of Ms. Daisy Gallagher, Author, President/ CEO of Gallagher & Gallagher Worldwide, Inc., Mr. Rodney P. Hunt, President/CEO - RPH Enterprise International, Owner/ Founder RSIS Inc., Ms. Svetlana Lana Kim, Speaker/ Author/ Spokesperson for Macy's Asian Pacific Heritage Month, and Ms. Vicky Tzolis, Entrepreneur. Also present at the ceremony was Mr. Exsekia Trivoulidis, internationally recognized sculptor and the creator of the Goddess Artemis Award.

In addition to the Honorable Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, the other recipients of the 15th Artemis Award included, the Honorable US Ambassador at Large Mellane Verveer, Mr. Rodney P. Hunt, President/CEO - RPH Enterprise International and Owner/ Founder RSIS Inc. Ms. Mary Luiz Hallaway Hunt / Entrepreneur Women's Advocate, Ms. Judy Kay Sheppard, President /CEO- Professional Services of America Inc., Ms. Ling Hong, President, Beijing Aoweiya Advertising Limited, Mr. Giannis Voglis / Actor, Ms. Alkistis Prinou /CEO, MediPrinou. A Posthumous Award was presented in honor of Ms. Miriam - Marilyn Kordvani.

"How appropriate the 15th Annual Artemis Awards Ceremony takes place right here in our Nation's Capital in this beautiful and historic building" said Daisy Gallagher, CEO of Gallagher & Gallagher Worldwide, Inc., EAWC Executive Global Board Member and herself a past recipient of the prestigious Artemis Award. "The EAWC recognizes individuals who have made a global impact in the human services, the arts, politics, economics, environment and in the media." She acknowledged those who had received the awards in the past along with the present honorees. "In this room there is wonderful representation of powerful and distinguished individuals who have made and continue to make a difference in the world." Gallagher added. Gallagher praised the founder and force behind the EAWC, Ms. Loula Loi Alafoyiannis for her humanitarian efforts and for keeping in the forefront EAWC mission to build bridges among nations and cultures, highlight women causes and bringing attention to equality for women in the business world who set economic trends, exercise influences, innovate change and make a difference in the world. "There would not be an EAWC without Loula. She is the powerful force behind the EAWC and its good works. Her courage and her strength is an inspiration for all of us." Gallagher concluded. She then praised those who had just received the young leadership awards.
