Wooden Double-Knob Serving Bowl Sets Standard for Nordic Designer Aava
United States, February 4, 2016 (Newswire.com) - The company announced this week the release of the bowl, which, in many ways, stands as the flagship of Aava’s new line of kitchenware products.
Photos of the bowl show a non-assuming, round cylinder made from pure white ceramic. Circular wooden knobs are fixed to ceramic anchors which protrude slightly from the bowl. The bowl’s lid is also made from ceramic and features a knob integrated into the lid the same way the knobs are on the side of the bowl.
"The Nordic Serving Bowl represents our dedication to using the simple lines and symmetry found in the natural world around us to evoke and inspire."

The trio of wood handles not only ensure that homeowners won’t burn their hands when they’re carrying hot contents, but they also provide a sense of visual unity that typifies the calm championed by Aava’s cookware.
The bowl can serve well as a vessel for hot dishes like coq au vin or a hearty soup, but also is an excellent choice for roasted potatoes, vegetables or meats.
“Enjoy Scandinavian design at its best,” the Aava website says of the serving bowl. “The Nordic Serving Bowl represents our dedication to using the simple lines and symmetry found in the natural world around us to evoke and inspire.”
As mentioned in the description, the bowl is a suitable representation of Scandinavian design, a movement marked by minimalism, functionality and design.
The movement began in the 1950’s in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland. It continues to be a popular choice for homeowners who want an elegant home without being gaudy.
In the same way, Aava’s serving bowl affords the discerning host or hostess a subdued piece whose basic design transcends its simple lines and offers a refined personality with roots in unassuming luxury.
“Rounded edges and flat surfaces present a design that is free of unnecessary adornment, yet is elegant in its simplicity with the clean look and appeal of wood and ceramic,” the bowl’s description reads.
The thread of Scandinavian design runs through each one of the nine kitchenware products Aava debuted this week. All but two of the pieces and sets integrates wood – often bamboo – into their designs.
The two products that don’t feature wood – the mug and plate set and the Natural White Carafe – carry their own momentum of simplicity that fits perfectly with Nordic philosophies.
“Aava’s products follow the artistic expression of Scandinavian design principles which center on using the natural resources available to create simple, entrancing products that help you display your own sense of understated chic,” Aava’s website reads.
The Nordic Serving Bowl is available for purchase in the “Serving Set” section of Aava’s website, http://aavanordic.com/. The bowl currently sells for $229.
Other products in the Aava kitchenware line range in price from $89 for the Mug and Plate set to $329 for the company’s recently released 14-Piece Amuse Bouche Serving Set.
