Woburn International Recently Highlighted How Its Services Can Assist Workers Interested In The New Canterbury Skill Shortage List

The list includes occupations needed during Canterbury rebuilding; Woburn International can help those workers migrate to New Zealand and transition smoothly

The Department of Labour recently introduced a new, temporary list that highlights many of the occupations currently in high demand during the rebuilding efforts in Canterbury. In light of the new list and the anticipated influx of skilled workers looking to migrate to New Zealand, Woburn International has announced its programs to help ease the transition involved in New Zealand immigration.

June Ranson said that the Department of Labour lists already include a Long Term Skill Shortage List, and an Immediate Skill Shortage List but that the Canterbury Skill Shortage List is a very niche list and is only temporary during the rebuilding. In essence it works this way; if an applicant who wants to migrate to New Zealand produces an offer of employment in Canterbury for an occupation on the list, Immigration New Zealand will accept that there are no suitably qualified New Zealand citizens or residents available to undertake the work, thereby making it easier to facilitate a visa request.

June Ranson of Woburn International says the new list is good news for Christchurch and Woburn International is here to help. Even before accepting work, the company can help potential residents consider whether the decision to migrate to New Zealand is the right 'fit'. If it is, then Woburn International can help to ease the transition.

"Often when a foreign employee takes a position here they are faced with more than just adjusting to the job. They are also dealing with 'settling in' issues, which can mean anything from cost-of-living calculations, visa and customs clearances or subtle cultural differences. We address those issues from the start so that the new employee can focus directly on the job they were hired for," June Ranson said.
